details

A 12-inch underground pipe, that was never put into service, was needed for a large Amazon facility. However, it failed pressure tests. Due to its location near a major waterway, heavy traffic, and a railroad, replacing 1,500 linear feet of pipeline could cause significant disruption.

problem

A 12-inch pipe was installed underground with the intention of being used, but it was never put into service. Fast forward to today, and a large Amazon facility is being constructed, necessitating the use of that pipe. When they tested it, the pipe failed to meet the pressure requirements. Given the proximity to a major waterway, heavy traffic areas, and a railroad, they wanted to avoid the disruption of ripping out and replacing 1,500 linear feet of pipeline. Traffic control and time constraints were critical in this situation. Traffic management and time limitations were crucial in this scenario. With the collaboration of InstaPipe, Pipe Reline Solutions, and CPM we stepped in with an effective rehabilitation strategy.

solution

We recommended the Bulletliner® system as an effective solution. The relining process was finished in under 24 hours. Since the pipe had never been put into service, there was no need for cleaning. The total active working time amounted to just 9 hours. The Bulletliner® system provided a 50-year service life for a deteriorating pipeline, at less than 50% of the cost required for digging and replacement, with minimal environmental impact. Additionally, it increased the pressure rating and improved the roughness coefficient, allowing for enhanced flow capacity.
